Published yesterday – fascinating research in the Church of England as to why churches grow – and why they decline. What are the facts and what conclusions can be drawn?
They explain some things about the Methodist Church too in my experience.
Have a read and see what you think…..
I read the report, too, and I think there are a couple of clear challenges for typical cherished Methodist practice. One is that continued alteration of worship styles inhibits growth – so the traditional use of the Plan needs criticism. The other is the dilution of leadership across more than once church as an inhibitor. Don’t think I need to say any more, really.
